Dr. Detective, a Android game by Bitstudio Games took 2nd place in Snaptic's Move Your App! Developer Challenge held at the Snaptic Developer Conference in San Francisco on May 27th 2010.
The challenge was to create anAndroid app that inspires and tracks physical movement. Dr. Detective takes advantage of GPS and that requires the user to visit different real world locations to progress in the game and solve the clues.
The contest was co-sponsored by HopeLab, a nonprofit organization focused on improving the health and quality of life of young people with chronic illness and KidsHealth.org, the leading site on the web for information on kids health with over 10,000,000 monthly visitors. One of the keys to fighting chronic illness is addressing the obesity epidemic, and HopeLab is intrigued by what mobile technology and mobile apps can do to get people on their feet and in motion, and in turn improve their general health.
